Methylation Links

The first four links are general descriptions of the methylation cycle and the MTHFR gene, which seems to be the focus in much treatment for methylation imbalances.  The Heartfixer site is good for descriptions of all of the main methylation genes.

A page from Dr. Amy Yasko's site.  I strongly recommend 23andMe testing, just $99 for a large number of genes, rather than the much more expensive genetic tests mentioned on her site.

Dr. Ben Lynch's excellent website -- there's a very good introductory video to watch on the homepage.

This is a rather dated site - it's good for the diagram and descriptions of the methylation genes, not so good for advice on what to do about them, as thinking has evolved quite a bit since it was written.

A nice piece about the importance of the folate cycle

GENETIC TESTING

23andMe
Very good, inexpensive genetic testing.

GeneticGenie
Free methylation gene analysis.  You upload your 23andme file, and receive a list of your methylation genetics with some analysis.  Super-useful!

Promethease
$5 for more gene analysis - this one adds detoxification genes, and the CYP ones that affect estrogen, etc.  Very helpful.

Snpedia
Like wikipedia for genes.  You type in the "rs" number for a gene, and this brings up info on what it's associated with, research on it, etc.  You can also add to it, as you do your own study.
